Locksmith is a free Mac OS X application designed to help users easily and securely change their Kerberos passwords. It leverages the power of Mac OS X's built-in "kpasswd" command-line utility, but is wrapped in a user-friendly Mac OS X user interface.
To use Locksmith, you will first need to change the domain from "****" to reflect your individual organization's Kerberos Realm or Active Directory Domain. Then input your user name, old password, and your new password twice. You will then be notified if your change was successful. If you wish to create and distribute a version of Locksmith specialized for your school, company or organization, you are free to do so. Simply change the line: DOMAIN_default = **** in the "Passwd.sh" file which resides inside Locksmith.app to reflect your Kerberos server. Specifically, change "****" to the address of your Kerberos Realm or Active Directory Domain. This will give your users a default domain more appropriate for your particular site. Locksmith has been tested to work using Mac OS X 10.3 clients and a Microsoft Exchange 2003 server; other configurations should work, but have not been tested. |
